Marketplace Events Names Doug Hart VP New Event Opportunities

12/17/2009 - Doug Hart will join Marketplace Events as vice president new event opportunities. Company CEO Tom Baugh announced his appointment. In his role, Hart will be responsible for business development, including acquisitions and launches of consumer and trade show products outside of Marketplace Events' core business of consumer home shows.

"Doug is an accomplished show producer with a long history of successfully launching new events," explained Baugh. "His unique ability to think strategically while also understanding exactly what is necessary for a new event to be successful, make him the perfect choice to identify and analyze new business opportunities and integrate those new shows into the Marketplace Events portfolio."

Hart spent 25 years producing consumer shows in Cincinnati as co-owner of Hart Productions Inc., where he developed and managed the brand, marketing, advertising and sales strategy for the Cincinnati Home & Garden Show; The Greater Cincinnati Kitchen, Bath & Design Show; The Holiday Market; The Garden Market; and The Cincinnati Golf Show, among others. During his tenure he launched nine new events, many of which continue to be part of the Hart Productions portfolio today. He joins Marketplace Events after making the decision last year to sell his ownership in Hart Productions to his brother and CEO Chip Hart.

"It has been a tremendous passion of mine to produce high-quality consumer shows and I look forward to applying that passion to new business opportunities with Marketplace Events outside of Greater Cincinnati."

Doug is a past president of the Home & Garden Show Executives International (HGSEI) and a past board member of the National Association of Consumer Shows (NACS).
